Notice of election for the post of President of the International Social marketing Association.

iSMA is now opening the nomination process for its next President.

Nominations will be accepted from any member of an iSMA affiliated organization r any direct iSMA members.

Nominations will consist of a brief statement (Max 500 words) setting out the reasons the applicant wishes to be iSMA President, their experience and qualifications and the contribution they would seek to make to the promotion of Social Marketing if elected.

The president will serve a term of three years before reappointment or a new president is sought.

Process and timetable for election of iSMA President.

  1. The election will take place in two phases. The first phase will be a call to all members via our affiliated associations for nominations. Nominations can come from affiliated organisations endorsing a member or by self-nomination.
  2. Those nominated must be a member of iSMA and or a member of any of the affiliated associations. The call for nominations will be announced at the World Social Marketing Conference in Spain, and subsequently via all affiliated associations and networks social media outlets and websites.
  3. Call for nominations opens on the 7th of November 2025 rand ends on the 7th of January 2026.
  4. Nominations will be sent to the iSMA Secretary by the date set out below.
  5. Nominations will consist of a brief statement (Max 500 words) setting out the reasons the applicant wishes to be iSMA President, their experience and qualifications and the contribution they would seek to make to the promotion of Social Marketing if elected.
  6. Candidates’ statements will be posted on the iSMA and affiliated associations websites on the 10th January 2026
  7. Voting is open via the iSMA website s between the 11th of January 2026 and the 11th of March 2026.
  8. Affiliated associations votes are sent to iSMA Secretary by the 14th of March 2026.
  9. All votes collected from affiliated associations and direct from iSMA members will be collated by the iSMA Secretary and all candidates will be informed of the outcome by the 18th of March 2026.
  10. The results of the election are announced to all members and affiliated organisations by the 19th March 2026. Presidential handover takes place during March / April 2026.
