The University of South Florida’s Social Marketing Conference is just around the corner. Enjoy two days of informative presentations and an exchange of ideas and best practices around behavior change for good, for improved health and environment. The conference is being held on June 17th and 18th and is once again located at the beautiful Sheraton Sand Key Resort, a picturesque location on the gulf coast beach. The location of the event promotes a relaxing and welcoming atmosphere in which to gather new ideas and tools in social marketing.

Among the many interesting speakers this year are Phil Harvey, Founder of DKT International, Bill Smith of Making Change4u, Fiona Spotswood of the University of the West of England, and Nancy Lee, President of Social Marketing Services, and other experienced change agents from around the world.

Some topics presented at the breakout sessions will involve conservation, women’s health, and workplace health. Insight on social marketing tools will be presented around a better understanding of “Place” in the social marketing framework, tips on building an evidence base, and what is learned from less successful social marketing programs.

The Social Marketing Training Academy precedes the conference on June 15th and 16th. The Academy uses an entertaining mixture of live case studies and interactive group exercises to help attendees understand how to increase the impact of behavioral change projects by:

  1. Knowing the core elements of a successful social marketing initiative;
  2. Selecting the behavior which will have the greatest impact on the problem;
  3. Selecting and prioritizing the target audience;
  4. Understanding the importance of formative research and how to analyze data; and
  5. Developing a marketing mix based on insights
