Prior to the news announcement on June 15, Amazon had been criticized by workers for failing to protect them after a series of Comid-19 outbreaks in warehouses.
The news reporter on NBC shared that Amazon is using Artificial Intelligence (AI), a program branded “Distance Assistant”, to alert workers in their factories when they are less than 6 feet from a fellow worker.
Individuals remaining 6 feet or more apart see a green circle on the ground around their feet.
If they come within less than six feet of a coworker, the circle turns to red.
Evidently, employees gave significant positive feedback and the company plans to deploy hundreds of these units over the next few weeks.
