Where Sighted: “Nextdoor” Social Media Site

Social Issue: Suicide

This week I noticed a headline on a posting on Nextdoor.

I don’t usually read many of those postings, but this one caught my attention and a need “for help” to influence an important “behavior.

Einstein is still missing it has now been 3 weeks. It is very important I get my cat back so if somebody in the neighborhood found him and is holding me in their home I need my cat. I am offering a $500 reward for the safe return of my cat, and I will keep calling his name throughout the park looking for him until somebody returns him

1 Day Later:

We were never reunited.. He was my life, the reason I woke up in the morning. Now that someone has successfully stolen him from me, I can’t go on in this life any longer. Thanks Madison Valley..

And Goodbye”

I responded with the following posting:

Eric.  Please try calling 988. It has helped many people who have felt like you are feeling now. I also want to share that I volunteer at the Seattle Humane Society, and I talk with at least one person or more each month who shares they are there because they lost their cat or dog and are so sad and lonely. Many of them end up adopting a pet that reminded them of their lost companion, and leave the shelter saying they are grateful they found one, not to replace, but to fill the space their pet had filled for them.

Unfortunately, as of today (3 days later) there are no updates as to his status.
