We Follow Safe Harbor Principles 

The International Social Marketing Association (iSMA) respects privacy and operates within the Safe Harbor Principles published by the US Department of Commerce and described at http://www.export.gov/safeharbor/.

All capitalized terms used in this Privacy policy have the meanings expressed in the EU directive EC/95/46 dated 24th October 1995 or at http://www.export.gov/safeharbor/. If there is any conflict between this Privacy Policy and the Safe Harbor Principles, the Principles will govern.

You May Visit Anonymously

You may visit the public areas of our site anonymously. When you visit our Web site without registering or subscribing, we do not collect any private information from you.

We Collect Some Private Information if You Register or Subscribe

We collect some private information from you when you register on our site to access the members areas or when you subscribe to one of our newsletters or listservs. You have the choice to provide this information or not. We require:

  • Your e-mail address

You also have the choice to provide additional information about yourself. You have the choice to provide it or not. You also have complete access to the information you provided through your member area profile. You can change, add, or delete this optional information at any time. You can also change who can see this information and who cannot.

We Do Not Collect, Store, or Have Access to Your Financial Information

When you join iSMA as a member or donate to our association, we direct you to a secure third-party financial transaction company (PayPal.com) to handle the transaction. We do not have access to or store your financial information in any way at any time.

We Use Your Information to Contact You and Help You Contact Fellow Users.

We use your email address and name to set up a member or registered user account for you. We use your email address to contact you with information about the site. We also use it to allow you receive emails from fellow participants in discussion lists (listservs) which you have chosen to join.

We may use the information you provide us in one or more of these following ways:

  • To personalize your experience (your information helps us to better respond to your individual needs)
  • To improve our service to you (your information helps us to more effectively respond to your service requests and support needs)

We Make Reasonable Efforts to Protect your Information

California Online Privacy Protection Act Compliance

Because we value your privacy we have taken the necessary precautions to be in compliance with the California Online Privacy Protection Act. We therefore will not distribute your personal information to outside parties without your consent.

As part of the California Online Privacy Protection Act, all users of our site may make any changes to their information at anytime by logging into their control panel and going to the ‘Edit Profile’ page.

Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act Compliance

We are in compliance with the requirements of COPPA (Childrens Online Privacy Protection Act), we do not collect any information from anyone under 13 years of age. Our website, products and services are all directed to people who are at least 13 years old or older.
