Social Marketing Strategy: A “colorful, tongue-in-check message
Where Sighted: Sidewalk Yard Sign
“Slow the flock down! It’s the latest message to people driving, couresy of the Portland Bureau of Transportation, and the Seattle Department of Transportation.
The campaign, developed by the Seattle Department of Transportation, is a partnership between the Pacific Northwest’s two largest cities.
Yard signs distributed throughout the city are intended to decrease speeding, “As people travel faster, the risk of serious injury rises dramatically. A pedestrian struck by a person driving 40 mph is eight times more likely to die than a pedestrian struck at 20 mph.”
