The NSMC’s Award for Excellence in Social Marketing for 2016 was presented by John Bromley the Director of the National Social Marketing Centre, at the 2016 United States Social Marketing Conference in Tampa, Florida this week.

The recipient was Robert John for the Oklahoma Nutrition Information & Education (ONIE) Social Marketing Project funded by the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Education to increase the consumption of 1% low-fat milk in Oklahoma City. 

The NSMC also contributed a grant to help bring three people from low-resource countries to the two day social marketing training academy which takes place before the conference. They were Sonayon Ajose from Lagos, Nigeria and Nelson & Flavia from Brazil.

The Conference which has been running for over 24 years, is one the oldest and most prestigious events in the social marketing calendar.  This year, speakers including Nancy Lee, Jeff Jordan and Bill Smith looked at future opportunities for expanding social marketing into other sectors.
