Social Marketing Strategy: Services Designed Uniquely for a Priority Audience
Where Sighted: Evening Television News
Behavior: Accept Medical Care
A moving news story on a local television station shared a story about three mothers housed in a temporary shelter, one providing temporary housing just for mothers with their newborn babies who had tested positive for prenatal substance exposure, and were in various stages of recovery.
Each of the moms, with their baby in their lap, shared, like in a focus group, their story of addiction, having a newborn testing positive for drugs, and their path to recovery due in large part to being accepted in a temporary housing shelter for moms with substance abuse problems, and medical care for their infants.
Their stories made it clear how powerful having this shelter with others “like me” has led to their recovery and ability to “move on.”
