The parent company of Fred Meyer, Kroger, announced Friday that it will pay workers $100 each if they get the coronavirus vaccine when it becomes available.

The one-time payment will be offered to all employees who receive the full regimen of recommended doses. Workers who choose to do so must present proof of vaccination to their human resources representative, according to Kroger.

Those who can’t get the vaccine because of medical or religious reasons will have the option of completing an educational health-and-safety course to receive the payment.

We hope more companies follow suit in incentivizing employee vaccinations.
