Social Issue: Sexual Abuse
A weekly local newspaper highlighted “School news” with a Superintendent report regarding sexual misconduct allegations involving High School staff and students.
The report noted the Student Safety and Well-Being Committee had a focus on student and staff member reporting, recommending using the Say Something app to report on warning signs or incidents of sexual assault.
A student present at the meeting commented that “I think there’s work being done and I think that that makes people feel safe because they know that the district is taking these things seriously.” (Mercer Island Reporter, January 21, 2026, p.3.)
